How the estimate works

What goes into the number.

We start from a per-kW installed rate (post-STC) and scale by system size and equipment tier. Batteries and EV chargers are added on top.

  • System size in kW.
  • Panel and inverter brand / tier.
  • Roof type — tile is slower to mount on than tin.
  • Switchboard age and 3-phase upgrade requirements.
  • Whether you add battery storage and EV charging.

Frequently asked questions

Is the STC rebate already in the price?

Yes — the figures here assume the STC rebate is applied at point of sale, which is how nearly all retailers quote.

Is a battery worth it?

It depends on your tariff and self-consumption patterns. Batteries typically have a 7–11 year payback in 2026, but improve resilience and energy independence regardless.
